The Solar Artefacts*

In the early light of dawn, Elara stood at the entrance of an ancient sunlit grove. Her mind raced with all the research she’d done. So much research. It was starting to make her brain hurt. Such research included reading an excessively long paper containing government solar rebate information. But this was real solar magic she was dealing with.

The townspeople, still influenced by the machine, patrolled the town. Elara had to rely on shadows and wit to avoid them. She whispered to herself, “This is like one of the puzzles from my books.”

First, she followed the rays to an ancient well, where she solved a puzzle by aligning the stones in the pattern of solar constellations. A hidden compartment revealed the Sunstone. It was warm and pulsated with energy.

Next, she arrived at the town library. A book on solar financing options caught her eye, and she pulled it. The bookshelf turned around, leading to a secret room. With the Solarpiece in her hand, she felt an urge to combine it with the Sunstone.

Finally, she was led to an old clock tower, where she aligned the hands to mimic the positions of the sun and moon during an eclipse. The Sun Orb was revealed.

With all three relics, Elara felt the guardians guiding her back to her house. The townspeople, seemingly awakening from a trance, began to follow her, offering their help.

In the garden, Elara assembled the relics. The Sunstone fit into the Solarpiece and the Sun Orb attached at the top, creating a staff that radiated blinding light.

“The staff must be used at the heart of the machine to absorb its energy and render it dormant,” whispered a guardian’s voice.

As the name of the town shimmered in the air, ready to change, Elara raced into her house with newfound allies by her side.

“Let’s do this,” she said, and the townspeople cheered.

They made their way into the basement, the staff held high and hearts full of hope. The decisive battle was upon them.
